AEA KU5A is an active ribbon microphone with a supercardioid polar pattern, designed for studio and live applications where high rejection and classic ribbon tonality are essential. It allows singers and instrumentalists to perform up close, thanks to its durable ribbon element and active electronics making it compatible with a wide range of preamps.

The KU5A features a front-address design, active circuitry powered by 48 V phantom, 92 Ω output impedance, and a switchable high-pass filter at 283 Hz to reduce proximity effect. With frequency response extending below 20 Hz up to >20 kHz, and a maximum SPL of 135 dB+, it handles loud sources with ease. The internal design prioritizes rejection of off-axis sound (up to about 135° null-point) and is built for rugged duty in both studio and stage environments.
