Genelec 8320APM Dark Grey 4 inch SAM Active Studio Monitor

Genelec 8320APM is the 8320A in Dark Grey: a compact active nearfield monitor from the Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) family. A 105 mm woofer and a 19 mm metal dome tweeter, driven by two 50 W Class D amplifiers, cover 66 Hz to 20 kHz within 1.5 dB. It is fully integrated with GLM software, which fits the monitor to your room.

Small room, predictable low end

In a small control room or home studio the weak link is rarely the speaker. It is the room: desk reflections, a wall right behind the monitors and boomy modes. Connected to a GLM network with the GLM Calibration Kit (sold separately), the 8320A measures the room with AutoCal 2 and sets the correction, levels and delays for each monitor. Instead of guessing whether the bass lives in the mix or in the room, you work on a measured, corrected response. Settings are stored in the monitor, so it stays calibrated even when the computer is off.

A precise stereo image on the desk

The DCW waveguide controls high-frequency dispersion, keeping the stereo image stable and reducing desk reflections. The rounded die-cast aluminium MDE enclosure cuts edge diffraction, and the Iso-Pod stand decouples the monitor from the surface while letting you tilt it towards your ears. Self-generated noise of 5 dB SPL or less means silence between takes, and ISS puts the monitor into standby automatically when there is no signal.
