version TipTop Audio has realised a fully Eurorack-compatible version of
the quad function generator in collaboration with Buchla. Each of the four identical units has a mode switch that selects between Sustained (envelope, long gate), Transient (envelope, short gate) and Cycle (LFO). The two parameters Attack and Decay have a setting range from 0.001ms to 10 seconds, which is very suitable especially for percussion sounds. In addition, these two controls adjust the frequency and waveform of the LFO mode. Control voltage inputs for both phases, as well as gate inputs for envelope triggering and cyclic mode activation, allow for vivid and complex modulations. On the outputs, we find a CV output and an 'End-of-Phase', the latter being a trigger signal that is triggered when the modulation cycle ends. Thanks to clever patching within the module, it is possible to create complex, self-generating modulations that extend as far as the audio range. The quadrature outputs are a special feature, pairing the A&,B and C&,D channels and shifting B and D and up to 90° relative to A and C, again adding to the complexity of possible modulations.
