Chandler Limited EMI Abbey Road Studios TG Microphone Type L is a solid-state large-diaphragm condenser microphone that continues the legacy of EMI’s iconic TG lineage. Derived from the acclaimed TG Microphone, the Type L shares the same core circuit, capsule, and innovative Dual Tone System, but introduces its own sonic identity and refined tuning. The result is a highly versatile studio workhorse with a character that bridges modern precision and classic warmth.

The Dual Tone System offers two distinct voicings in one microphone: System A provides the signature TG sound — mid-forward, rich in harmonics, and full of presence — while System B delivers a smoother, ribbon-like response that excels with higher SPL sources and pristine detail. With the -10 dB pad engaged, both systems can handle exceptionally loud sources, with System B serving as the extreme SPL mode for demanding recording situations.

Intended as a go-to recording solution, the TG Microphone Type L can confidently take the place of revered studio standards such as the C12, C414, FET47, U67, and U87. Its broad tonal range allows engineers to replace the traditional dynamic + ribbon microphone setup on guitar cabinets or vocals with a single, phase-coherent capture device. The result is the unmistakable TG character — punchy, open, and harmonically complex.

Each microphone is supplied with a swivel mount and a bamboo storage box, reflecting Chandler’s attention to both form and function. Built under license from Abbey Road Studios, the Type L carries forward the legacy of EMI’s TG consoles, which shaped the sound of landmark recordings by The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
