Expressive E has released a new firmware update for their revolutionary keyboard synthesizer – the Osmose. Version 2.1 brings 80 new presets, new effects, and major enhancements to the EaganMatrix synthesis engine. It marks another step forward in the evolution of one of the most expressive instruments of our time.
What’s new in Osmose 2.1?
The updated EaganMatrix engine version 10.52, accessible via the EaganEditor software, introduces several key features:
- New PWM oscillator
- Per-voice effects: bitcrusher, saturation, pitch shift
- New Drive mode for the compressor
- Two new 24 dB ladder filters (low-pass and high-pass)
- A new long reverb algorithm with extended decay
While some of these features are available exclusively via EaganEditor, Osmose users can now also access additional parameters directly on the instrument. The Synth tab now includes a new Tanh Saturation control, allowing for subtle to pronounced saturation. The new convolution-based long reverb adds lush ambient depth, and the previous reverb effect has been renamed to “short reverb.”

New sounds and the future of editing
Users gain access to 80 brand new presets designed to showcase the power of the updated engine. Expressive E also announced the upcoming release of six simplified editors to replace the current complex interface. These editors will be tailored for specific sound categories: electric pianos, guitars, wind instruments, and classic analog-style synths.
How to install?
The update is free and available for download on the manufacturer’s website. It requires a computer and the EaganEditor software. Registered users can install it automatically via the standard process.
