SOMA Pulsar-23 Black (Screw) is a drum machine with a semi-modular structure and consists of 23 independent modules.
PULSAR can be used to synthesize percussion instruments and rhythms, bass and melodic lines, effects and soundscapes, as well as a source of control voltage and a powerful analog FX processor.
PULSAR works in three different modes: autonomous, MIDI control and CV control. Moreover, all of the above functions and control modes can work simultaneously in any proportion or combination.
In addition, PULSAR offers real-time circuit bending capabilities and allows the artist's body to be used for patching and cross modulation. PULSAR continues the line of synthesizers started by LYRA-8, but now in the field of percussion instruments.
In addition, it has MIDI control and sync, as well as many small modules such as 4 assignable pads and 2 dynamic touch sensors for CV generation, etc. In total, there are 55 knobs, 11 switches and 122 inputs and outputs for connectivity, Eurorack integration, mixing, processing and circuit bending.
Key Features:
– 4 synthesis blocks: kick drum, bass\percussion, snare drum, cymbals\Hi-Hat
– 4 envelope generators with the unique ability to generate sustain for drum blocks, turning them into noise and tone synthesizers.
– 4 independent loopers with the ability to individually sync. They record trigger events, not sound
– Clock generator with divider array – a powerful tool for rhythm synthesis
– Wide-range LFO (0.1 – 5000 Hz) with different waveforms
– Shaos – a unique pseudo-random signal generator based on shift registers with 4 independent outputs, sample and hold and other interesting features
– FX processor with CV control, including CV control of the overall DSP sampling rate
– Distortion
– 2 CV-controlled gates
– 2 VCAs with CV control
– 2 controlled inverters
– Dimensions – 380x280x80 mm
– Weight – 4 kg
