Solton SM 6 is an active two-way bi-amped near-field studio monitor with a 6.5" Custom Kevlar-cone woofer and a 1" Neodymium high-frequency driver, powered by a bi-amp module delivering 60 W to the LF section and 25 W to the HF section (85 W continuous / 340 W peak total). Designed for small control rooms and home studios in music production, video post-production and broadcast — the metal rear panel with bass-reflex port and full input complement integrates into any signal chain without adapters.
6.5" Kevlar cone and 1" Neodymium HF — extended bandwidth in a compact MDF enclosure
The 6.5" driver with a Kevlar composite cone extends bass reproduction down to 50 Hz while keeping MF distortion low — Kevlar's high stiffness-to-weight ratio minimises cone breakup under pressure and reduces harmonic colouration in the midrange, where the ear is most sensitive. The 1" Neodymium HF driver covers the top end up to 22 kHz within a 90° x 60° dispersion pattern. The active 2.6 kHz crossover separates the two paths cleanly. The metal rear panel houses the bass-reflex port, input level control, HF and LF trim switches (+2.5 / 0 / -2.5 dB) for room compensation, and a logo LED switch. The XLR/6.35 Jack Combo input accepts both balanced and unbalanced signal; the additional RCA input connects players or interfaces with consumer-level outputs.
Stereo pair — 108 dB SPL and a tight stereo image at near-field distance
At 225 x 236 x 324 mm and 7.8 kg, a stereo pair of SM 6 monitors fits on a standard desk or console meter bridge without dedicated stands. The 108 dB maximum SPL figure (measured per pair) provides sufficient dynamic headroom for loud monitoring levels without amplitude compression affecting the mix perception. The illuminated Solton logo on the front baffle indicates power-on status and can be switched off independently when ambient lighting affects mix judgement.
