Solton RB 82 is a passive two-way fullrange line array element in a 15 mm birch plywood enclosure, built around two 8" aaCRAAFT drivers and a Ribbon horn-loaded HF transducer. With 100° x 10° nominal coverage, 500 W continuous / 2000 W peak power handling and a maximum SPL of 125 dB continuous / 131 dB peak, the RB 82 is a step up in output and driver technology from the CL 6 — suited to theaters, sports facilities, clubs and contemporary churches where genuine dynamic headroom and precise vertical control are both required.
Ribbon HF driver — low compression, low distortion at full output
The Ribbon HF transducer replaces the conventional voice-coil compression driver with a design that has no diaphragm or voice coil — only a thin corrugated metallic ribbon moving directly in a magnetic gap. With drastically lower moving mass and no thermal compression from a heated coil, the Ribbon driver maintains consistent high-frequency output at levels where compression drivers start rolling off dynamically. The practical result is audibly cleaner cymbals, vocal sibilants and spatial harmonics at working levels close to the system's maximum SPL. Two 8" aaCRAAFT bass-reflex drivers handle the MF/LF range down to 65 Hz (-10 dB). The passive 2.3 kHz crossover with PTC driver protection matches the two sections without an outboard processor. The 8 Ω nominal impedance and two NL4 connectors (pins 1+/1-) support standard daisy-chain wiring between array elements.
0°–12° adjustable splay and fast integral rigging for up to 16 elements
The built-in rigging system supports arcs of up to 16 cabinets with 1° splay increments across the full 0°–12° range between adjacent elements — full vertical curvature control without separate angle adapters. The FCR 82 frame (art. 12501) handles configurations of up to 6 elements in both stacked and flown modes (compact version); the FLC 82 (art. 12502) is the large fly frame for deeper hangs. Recommended subwoofers are the A 218 Sub and the flyable A 18 FL Sub — the latter with a dedicated frame for hanging directly below the RB 82 arc. System amplification uses the DX 4; active crossover and system alignment uses the DSP 206 N processor. GLL files for EASE Focus 3 are available for download from the Solton website.
