Solton HD 181 Sub is a single ground-stackable 18-inch direct-radiating subwoofer, built as the low-frequency section for the HD series and other Solton mid-high cabinets in mobile and installed applications. A long-excursion driver with a 4-inch voice coil handles 800 W continuous and 3200 W peak power, reaching a maximum peak SPL of 135 dB at one meter. A compact bass-reflex enclosure made of 15 mm birch plywood keeps the cabinet manageable despite its solid low-end output.
Bass Foundation for HD Series Systems
An integrated M20 pole socket lets a distance pole with an HD 151, HD 101, or HD 88 cabinet mount directly on top of the subwoofer, building a complete portable point-source system without a separate stand. A 38-140 Hz response within 3 dB and an operating range down to 33 Hz at -10 dB cover the typical range of a touring subwoofer without reaching into territory better handled by the mid-high cabinet above. The crossover is handled digitally, making it straightforward to dial in the handoff point for any given system configuration.
Fast Signal-Chain Connections
Two rear-panel NL4 Speakon connectors, marked as signal input (INPUT) and link (LINK), make it quick to add further cabinets to the system without extra signal splitters. A perforated steel grille backed with acoustically transparent foam protects the driver from mechanical damage during transport and on stage, and the built-in mounting for a 100 mm wheel set makes moving the cabinet easier during frequent load-in and load-out.
