Zero Edge Baffle and 3 kHz crossover — same engineering, smaller format
The single-piece aluminum Zero Edge Baffle eliminates wave diffraction at cabinet corners, which in standard MDF enclosures generates delayed energy that degrades stereo imaging. The integrated exponential aluminum waveguide maintains consistent off-axis dispersion from the tweeter across the operating range. The active Linkwitz-Riley crossover at 24 dB/octave crosses at 3 kHz — higher than the HR824 MK2's 1.9 kHz — reflecting the 6.7" woofer's smaller excursion capability and its usable range up to 6 kHz. The 6" x 9" mass-loaded elliptical passive radiator extends bass response to -3 dB at 45 Hz without the group delay distortion of a ported enclosure at the frequency limits.
Two-position LF filter, HF EQ and Acoustic Space Control
The LF filter offers two positions: 49 Hz (normal) and 80 Hz for satellite operation with a subwoofer. The 80 Hz setting configures the HR624 MK2 for THX pm3 surround systems — 5.1 and 7.1 configurations with a dedicated bass management unit. The HF shelving EQ at ±2 dB at 10 kHz corrects for room brightness or darkness without touching the midrange. Acoustic Space Control's three positions (-4 dB or -2 dB shelving at 50 Hz, or flat) compensate for boundary reinforcement from walls and corners — essential in small home studios and project rooms where speaker placement relative to room boundaries is rarely ideal. Protection includes independent LF and HF overload detection, automatic thermal shutdown with auto-reset and a 5-second output mute on power-up.
