Burl Audio B16-BMB2-M3-1612 — a ready-made AD/DA system in a B16 Mothership 3 chassis, fitted with a BMB2 MADI motherboard, a BAD16 card (16-channel ADC), and a BDA12 card with twelve line outputs plus a built-in two-channel class-A monitor section.
Input conversion runs through transformer-coupled, discrete class-A circuitry with the BX8 transformer, while the line and monitor outputs use a discrete class-A path with the BOPA14 op-amp. The BMB2 motherboard provides two optical MADI ports carrying up to 64 I/O channels at 44.1, 48 or 96kHz, and up to 32 channels at 176.4 or 192kHz.
Long, lossless runs over MADI
Working over long distances between a control room and a conversion rack often leaves analog or network cabling prone to noise and interference. The BMB2 addresses this with two optical MADI ports that carry multichannel digital audio over long distances with no signal loss and no risk of electromagnetic interference, interfacing with any ASIO or Core Audio PCIe MADI card. A compact MADI rig usually needs a separate monitor controller just to switch between speakers and headphones, adding one more box to the rack. The BDA12 card removes that step by integrating a switchable Speaker A, Speaker B and Headphones section right on the DAC card, running through the same class-A path as the twelve line outputs. That means a sixteen-in, twelve-out set with full monitor control fits in just two rack units, with no extra cabling to an outboard controller.
