Audient ASP8024 Heritage Edition 48 Ch Console/DLC Module is a 48-channel fully analog in-line recording console with 24-bus routing, combined with the Dual Layer Control (DLC) module — a five-bay configuration (four 12-channel bays, master section, and DLC bay) measuring approximately 285 cm wide and weighing around 200 kg. The DLC integrates DAW control and analog VCA automation directly into the console's physical structure, eliminating a separate hardware controller. All signal path specifications, preamp circuit, EQ topology, Retro Iron mix bus, and VCA bus compressor are identical to the standard 48-channel configuration.
DLC — Analog VCA Automation and DAW Control in One Bay
The Dual Layer Control module houses eight motorised faders bankable across an entire session, eight additional line inputs routable to the mix bus or subgroups, a high-resolution OLED display, a jog/shuttle wheel for project navigation, and a full set of transport and session navigation controls. Eight channels of VCA automation allow console fader moves to be recorded and played back — combined with direct DAW fader control over those same eight physical faders, DLC creates a dual-layer control environment: an analog layer (VCA on console channels) and a DAW layer (HUI/Mackie Control protocol). Functions available include DAW record arming, plug-in selection and parameter editing, auxiliary automation, and project navigation, all accessible without reaching for a keyboard during a session. The DLC connects to the host computer via Ethernet and supports Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, and Nuendo.
In-Line at 48 Channels and Retro Iron Mix Bus
The in-line architecture delivers 112 inputs to the stereo bus at mixdown, plus 8 additional line inputs from the DLC module — up to 120 signal sources manageable from a single operating position. The four-band Dearden EQ with two fully parametric mid bands (40 Hz–20 kHz, ±15 dB, variable Q) and two shelving bands is splittable per channel independently. Retro Iron on the stereo bus output — Carnhill transformer and John Hardy 990C — delivers +28 dBu into 600 Ω at the mix insert send with Low Bump and High Lift EQ before the output faders. The VCA stereo bus compressor with adjustable threshold, ratio, auto-release, and GR metering operates post-insert, pre-fader. Fourteen aux sends (12 mono plus 2 cue), 8 subgroups, 48 record buses, and Penny & Giles 8000 series faders throughout the input channels. Supplied with a single ASP8120 Ultra power supply.
