The 48-channel Wunderbar with 56 monitor paths is one of the largest configurations in the lineup and the natural specification for a full-scale commercial control room. Two Powerbar PSUs with isolated DC voltage and audio paths carry the complete load of 48 channels running simultaneously without voltage stability or noise floor compromises. Fifty-six monitor paths give the engineer complete inline flexibility across the largest tracking and overdub sessions — orchestral dates, large-band recordings, complex overdub builds — without splitting or submixing upstream. Every unit is hand-built to the client's exact specification by a team of over a dozen specialists.

Wunderbahn at Full Scale — 48 Channels of Discrete Summing

The Fully Balanced Busing Scheme removes ground from the audio path across all 48 channels, delivering the same measurable increase in dynamic range and reduction in residual noise as in the smaller configurations — but at a scale where the cumulative effect of ground management across dozens of simultaneous signals becomes audible in the depth and coherence of the mix bus. The Wunderbahn's three independent stereo bus amplifiers — Wunder, Neve 1272, and API 312 — operate separately or cascade simultaneously with proportions set by six master faders in the center section. At 48 channels, the ability to assign different instrument groups to different bus flavors — drums and bass through the API, strings and keys through the Neve — becomes a substantive mixing decision, not just a tonal option. All 48 channels carry transformer-balanced Direct Outputs and Insert Send/Return loops. The 1046 Routing Modules are fully transformer-balanced Class-A Discrete, with a flip-able monitor fader, six group buses with illuminated switches, four aux sends switchable pre/post, Pan Defeat, 48V phantom power, and Opto Silent Mute.

Master Section, D-Sub Connectivity, and Configuration Options

The master section includes a Control Room Monitor for six stereo sources including buses, Mono/Dim/Mute/Solo Clear on large illuminated switches, selection between three speaker pairs or a headphone amplifier with independent level control, internal subgroup-to-stereo-bus routing without external patching, and an eight-fader monitor section with solo, pan, and bus assignment per fader. In Super D format, all connections across each eight-channel section run on D-Sub 25 connectors. The Exquisite Trim package covers end caps, meter bridge, and armrest in 1.5" solid hardwood (Oak, Walnut, or Roasted Coffee Bean Birch) with an inlaid logo, finished with Black or Brown Top Grain leather. Channel strip EQ is configurable as PEQ2 or PEQ4 four-band modules, with mixed configurations supported within the same frame.
