FREQ is an incredibly versatile tool that blends the classic characteristics of Proportional Q equalizers with modern enhancements. Its design ensures that gentle boosts or cuts are broad and musical, while more extreme adjustments automatically narrow the Q, allowing for precise notching of problem frequencies. Paul Wolff's design takes this a step further by adding specialized modes for each band, making FREQ both a surgical repair tool and a creative sound-shaping device in a single module.

The equalizer features special modes: WIDE for the high and low bands, which transforms them into broad, 3-octave wide fixed filters, and a 1/3 Octave lock for the mid bands, perfect for surgically removing resonances. A custom Cinemag output transformer provides transparency and a subtle character, while a true hard-wire relay bypass ensures the circuit is completely removed from the signal path. With high headroom (+28 dBu) and ultra-low distortion, FREQ excels in any demanding studio environment.
