Placed close to a vocalist or a guitar cabinet, a typical dynamic mic piles up excess low end, forcing an HPF cut further down the chain. The Vostok-1's controlled proximity effect lets it work right up against the source - snare, amp, close vocal - without the usual low-end mud and without pre-correction before the signal leaves the mic, cutting setup time in both studio and stage settings.
