Shadow Hills The Equinox is a 2-channel microphone preamplifier in a 2U rack format with 30 channels of analog summing and a mastering-level monitor controller.

The Equinox microphone preamps are Golden Age amplifiers, each with 60 dB gain, 24-position stepped attenuators with gold plating, 48V phantom power, a 20 dB pad, phase reverse, and a separate DI output. The most exciting feature of the amplifier section is the switchable output transformers, which allow for multiple sonic flavors in one box.

The Equinox Features

• Steel transformer (hand-wound to match the favorite American output transformer from the 1970s). Dense and punchy, with the biggest bottom end. Rock'n'roll sound.
• Nickel transformer (hand-wound transformer based on a custom L.A. console). Super clear and beautiful sound, but with a smooth and musical transition smoothing.
• Iron transformer (modern version of the classic St. Ives 1166 Neve output transformer). Warm, with super-detailed and present midrange.
• Tone of Golden Age preamps.
