PreSonus StudioLive 24R – a 40-channel digital rack mixer from the Series III family, featuring 24 Class-A XMAX preamps, 40×40 USB and 55×55 AVB audio interfaces, onboard stereo SD recording, 16 FlexMixes and wireless control via UC Surface. 2U rack format, 4.9 kg. Four tools in one enclosure: standalone rack mixer, AVB stage box, monitor mixing hub and audio interface.
The StudioLive 24R is built for engineers who need a centralized input node close to the stage – without running analog snakes across the venue floor. A single CAT5e/CAT6 Ethernet cable to a Series III console replaces the multi-conductor copper snake, eliminating both signal degradation over long runs and the weight and cost of analog infrastructure. Operating modes switch in software with no physical recabling required.
Four operating modes in one unit
In standalone mixer mode, the 24R functions as a full 40-channel digital mixer controlled wirelessly via UC Surface on any tablet, computer or phone. In stage box mode paired with a Series III console, it handles remote inputs and outputs while the FOH engineer controls preamps and phantom power directly from the console's Fat Channel. In stage box + monitor mixer mode, the unit simultaneously processes stage inputs and delivers up to 16 independent monitor mixes – each with full Fat Channel processing per channel and bus. With up to 16 EarMix 16M personal monitor mixers connected over AVB, performers manage their own in-ear mixes independently, without involving the FOH engineer.
DSP, routing and recording
The dual-core FLEX DSP engine runs 40 mix channels, 22 buses and 270 simultaneous processors. Fat Channel on every input and bus provides State Space Modeled EQ and compressor options, gate, limiter and HPF. The 16 FlexMixes configure individually per show as aux sends, subgroups or matrix mixes; four dedicated subgroups, four FX buses and 24 DCA groups complete the routing architecture. The 40×40 USB 2.0 interface records all channels to a DAW; the 55×55 AVB interface handles network-based recording over Ethernet. Simultaneously, the onboard SD recorder captures a stereo mix to card without a computer. PreSonus Metro enables full remote control over the internet with real-time audio monitoring from anywhere in the world.
