Native Instruments Kontrol S88 Mk3 B-Stock — an 88-key MIDI controller with a Fatar hammer-action keybed and polyphonic aftertouch, sold as a B-Stock unit (factory-refurbished or display item, full warranty included). It's built to sit at the center of a Komplete Kontrol and NKS-based workstation.
The keybed was developed in collaboration with Fatar and is among the first on the market to combine fully weighted hammer action with aftertouch sensed independently per key, via an FSR sensor matrix. In practice that means modulating timbre, vibrato, or cutoff through finger pressure alone, without reaching for an extra controller or mod wheel. The 1280x480 high-resolution display with a glass surface shows plugin parameters, patch names, and NKS mapping right on the keyboard.
Playing a patch without watching the monitor
An engineer working with the Kontakt library and partner plugins loses time switching focus between the keyboard and the computer screen. Light Guide — the LED strip above the keys — shows split zones, key switches, and scale ranges directly on the keybed, while 8 touch-sensitive encoders plus a 4-directional encoder let you browse, swap, and mix sounds without breaking the playing flow.
DAW integration beyond transport controls
Beyond standard transport functions (play, stop, record), the controller offers deeper integration with Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, and GarageBand, enabling remote control over mixing and plugin parameters. Four TRS pedal inputs (sustain, expression, and two freely assignable) plus MIDI 2.0 compatibility give full performance control without extra cabling.
