Morphor Ensemble — an 8-voice, fully analogue BBD chorus in a 12HP Eurorack format, built around eight classic bucket brigade chips. The input signal feeds eight independent delay lines, the module offers three voice-count modes, and the time spacing between them (Spread) is voltage-controllable, as is modulation depth. Two onboard LFOs - slow (0-5 Hz) and fast (0-20 Hz), both with CV inputs - give asymmetric delay-time modulation typical of the best-sounding analogue choruses from the 80s. A fixed panoramic stereo spread lays the voices across the stereo field, while separate input attenuator and dry-add knobs set the balance between BBD character and the original signal.
Voice count - from subtle thickening to a full choir
The voice switch (2, 4 or 8) decides how many of the eight BBD lines run at once, so effect intensity gets matched to the material instead of sitting on one fixed chorus setting. Two voices give a subtle widening of a mono synth, four bring a clearer humanization to strings or pads, and the full eight open the door to dense, orchestral textures and extreme pitch-bending. The voltage-controlled Spread pulls the delay times between active voices apart, so that spacing can be modulated on the fly instead of set once and left alone.
Feedback into self-oscillation, plus two independent LFOs
The feedback knob feeds extra repeats from the BBD lines back into the input, up to full self-oscillation - well past a normal chorus and into resonant flanger tones and effects close to granular pitch-shifting. Two independent LFOs, slow at 0-5 Hz and fast at 0-20 Hz, modulate delay time independently and each carry separate CV inputs for frequency and depth, making asymmetric, lively vibrato possible instead of the even wobble typical of a single-LFO chorus.
