Morphor Distortion – LED Based — a compact analogue distortion module in a 4HP Eurorack format, loosely based on the circuit of a classic MXR pedal. Clipping is performed by LEDs that also light up on the front panel, so signal destruction is visible in real time without hooking up a scope. Gain level is voltage-controlled, and a three-position switch (low, med, high) shifts the character of the distortion from subtle grit to hard, aggressive clipping. A dry/wet mix control lets you keep part of the original signal alongside the distorted version, and a mono input and mono output keep patching straightforward.
CV-controlled gain and three distortion modes
A static distortion pedal is set once and left alone - in a modular rig you often need something that responds to an envelope, a sequencer, or an LFO. The gain CV input lets you modulate distortion intensity in step with the patch, from a light dusting of harmonics on quiet passages to a full tear-up at the peaks. The low/med/high switch sets the clipping character independent of gain level - from subtle, guitar-pedal-like grit through to harsher clipping at the highest setting.
Visual feedback and dry/wet blending
The LEDs doing the clipping sit right on the front panel, so distortion intensity can be judged by eye during a performance, with no extra meter or scope needed on stage. The dry/wet control blends the distorted signal with the original, which keeps low end and transient attack intact while still adding upper-harmonic content - useful especially on bass lines and percussive sources that lose definition fast under full distortion.
