Grace Design REX is a single-channel microphone preamp and EQ in a rugged, floor-based chassis, combining the studio Grace Design preamp path with the simplicity of a stompbox. Packing 30 years of the company's preamp design experience into a compact BiX-style chassis, the REX gives vocalists and instrumentalists studio-grade sound straight to the stage and pedalboard.
A studio preamp on stage
A vocalist with their own microphone often loses clarity when the signal goes straight to the FOH desk without a good preamp. The REX delivers up to +57 dB of gain with the transparent, open sound characteristic of Grace Design, sufficient even for demanding dynamic mics like the Shure SM7B without needing an extra booster such as a Cloudlifter. 48 V phantom power also handles condenser mics, and a switchable 75 Hz high-pass filter at 12 dB/octave adds presence and removes boom.
Tone control and effects on the pedalboard
A musician playing with effects needs EQ, a solo boost and an FX loop integrated into one pedal. The REX has a High and Low shelving EQ with a +/-10 dB range, a variable boost up to 10 dB and Boost and Mute footswitches. An FX loop with separate send and return jacks lets you insert reverb, delay or distortion directly into the mic path. Simultaneous outputs — a transformer isolated XLR DI to FOH and an unbalanced 1/4" to an amp or in-ear system — let you split the signal on stage, providing your own monitoring independent of the PA settings.
