Bastl Instruments CRUST is a Eurorack module for creating percussion sounds.
The Crust sound consists of two layers - the NOISE source and the dual TONE oscillator for sound generation. CRUST offers a combination of pitch envelope, layer mixing, FM envelope, and transient shaper with hard limiting.
The NOISE source has built-in low-pass and high-pass filters and 4 modes (white noise, clap, bit, and metallic). TONE has 4 oscillator configurations (FM, FM2, dual, and ring modulation), pitch envelope, detune, V/Oct input, and SHAPE waveform control.
The LAYER fader switches between layers but also adjusts the relative envelope decays to achieve percussion setup possibilities. The ENV knob shortens the envelopes in the middle and lengthens decay, shaping attack and decay, forming more synthetic timbres.
The TIMBRE section either focuses on the body of the sound or concentrates on the transient process. The CLIP distortion has either soft limiting and bass boost, or a transient shaper with hard limiting making the percussion super tight.
