Austrian Audio CC8 Stereo Set

The CC8 uses the newly developed OCC7 capsule, inspired by the legendary AKG CK1 design, with a 3-micron gold-coated PEN diaphragm — thinner and more resistant to aging than traditional Mylar. Transformerless electronics give a linear frequency response across 20 Hz–20 kHz, a maximum SPL of 146 dB (156 dB with the pad), and a low 16 dB(A) self-noise. Every unit is individually measured and tuned in an anechoic chamber to a ±0.5 dB tolerance at 1 kHz, meaning any two CC8s form a coherent stereo pair regardless of production date.

Factory matching instead of hand-picking a pair

A common problem when building a stereo pair from separately purchased small-diaphragm mics: sensitivity differences between units, which in techniques like ORTF or X-Y show up as a stereo image pulled to one side. The CC8 removes that risk through rigorous factory matching — each mic is individually measured in an anechoic chamber, so the pair in this set stays consistent without manually checking or hand-selecting mics before a session.

Three pads and a switchable filter instead of one universal setting

Pencil mics used as drum overheads or on piano can be overloaded by very loud sources, while quieter acoustic instruments need every last bit of dynamic range preserved. The CC8 addresses this with three pads (0, -10, -20 dB) and a switchable 60/120 Hz high-pass filter (2nd order), letting the mic be matched to a quiet acoustic guitar or loud cymbals and snare alike without losing signal quality.
