Warm Audio WA-47
Warm Audio WA-47 is
alarge-diaphragm
tube condenser microphone with 9-way switchable directional characteristics. It is based on the classic '47 microphone that can be heard on countless hit albums in music history over the past 50 years. The WA-47 is designed for professional recording studios as well as home studios, live and broadcast applications. It harmonises beautifully with vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, acoustic and electric bass, drums, piano, strings,
brass
andwoodwinds and many other sound sources.
As with all Warm Audio products, the designers focus on using the highest quality components. The Warm Audio WA-47 condenser microphone also uses the highest quality components from the world's best pro audio component suppliers. During construction, the best features of the classic were analysed and adopted. A huge advantage: Warm Audio once again manages to bring a beautiful-sounding studio classic to the market at a price that makes a rare legend affordable to more people than ever before and indistinguishable from vintage microphones in terms of sound.
CapsuleWarmAudio WA-47 uses a custom-made replica of the capsule used in the classic '47 microphone - designed with the same bore layout and frequency response. Warm Audio's version of the capsule (model # WA-47-B-80v) is manufactured with the utmost care by an Australian capsule manufacturer. Its precision allows Warm Audio to reliably deliver this most important element of sound transmission at the highest level.
TubeTheWarm Audio
companylooked very closely at four tube manufacturers in preparation for building the amplifier and fell in love with the Slovakian JJ 5751 vacuum tube.Due to its low gain and low noise floor, this tube transmits much more acoustic detail from the capsule and transformer than higher gain
tubes. The frequency response of the JJ 5751 tube and the way it affects the behaviour of the circuit is extremely smooth and absolutely vintage.
TransformerTheWA-47 uses a TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA transformer with a large toroidal core and German transformer plates.
Among other things, this transformer is responsible for the velvety-smooth highs and dense belly that one expects from a 47
microphone.CableOnecomponent of a tube microphone that many manufacturers pay little attention to is the 7-pin cable that connects the microphone to the power supply. In testing the Warm Audio WA-47 and other microphones, Warm Audio found out how drastically the shielding and cross-section of the 7-pin cable can affect the performance of a tube microphone. As a result, Warm Audio partnered with Swiss cable manufacturer Gotham Kabel to supply the WA-47 with the GAC-7 7-pin cable. This high-end cable, compared to cheaper cables, tremendously increases the airiness of the sound and the size of the recorded image on a stereo basis.
CapacitorsTheWA-47 uses a polystyrene coupling capacitor from Wima on the input side and a capacitor from Solen of France on the output side to drive the TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA transformer.
