Waldorf M

Waldorf M is an 8-voice desktop wavetable synthesizer with two independent wavetable oscillators, an analog low-pass ladder filter, analog stereo VCAs, dual LFOs, an arpeggiator, and comprehensive MIDI/USB connectivity. Designed as a modern reimagining of the iconic Microwave series, the M delivers true hybrid sound by combining digital wavetable synthesis with analog signal paths.

Each of the two oscillators offers two selectable modes: Classic (based on the original Microwave I, featuring 8–16-bit resolution at 240 kHz for vintage grit) and Modern (modeled after Microwave II/XT, with 40 kHz sample rate, hard sync, and ring modulation). The result is a flexible tonal palette that spans decades of sound design history.

The analog section includes a 24 dB/oct low-pass VCF with resonance and analog saturation, along with true analog stereo VCAs for all eight voices, giving the M a warm and punchy character. With 2048 preset programs arranged in 16 banks of 128 sounds, including legendary MW1 factory sets, there's a wealth of inspiration out of the box.

In multitimbral mode, M allows up to four independent parts with separate outputs—ideal for stacking patches or sequencing multiple layers. Additional features include MIDI-syncable dual LFOs, an arpeggiator with selectable patterns, assignable modulation matrices, and six stereo outputs for flexible routing. Its intuitive display and control layout make deep editing accessible and fluid.
