Twisted Electrons FlexFM is an 8-voice hybrid groovebox unveiled at Superbooth 2026, combining 4-operator FM synthesis with per-voice multimode analog filters and a built-in sampler with live recording capability. The instrument is a direct evolution of the TwistFM — retaining the same analog filter type while adding a sampler, resampling, a performance-focused step sequencer, and a joystick for real-time morphing of algorithms and patterns. 12 encoders with LED rings cover direct parameter access without menu navigation. Price and release date are TBA; the instrument is on display at booth O396 at Superbooth 2026.
4-operator FM per voice with 32 engines per operator and per-voice analog filter
Each of the 8 voices runs a dedicated 4-operator FM engine with 32 available engine types per operator — far exceeding the timbral space of a standard 4-operator algorithm set. The FM engine is complemented by a sampler supporting USB import, live recording via the line input, and resampling of existing sounds within the workflow. The per-voice multimode analog filter is identical to the one used in TwistFM, with cutoff and resonance accessible directly from the hardware panel. The joystick is the live performance centerpiece: it morphs seamlessly between four sequencer patterns or four FM algorithms simultaneously without interruption. Each voice carries four LFOs, with the ability to record custom waveform shapes via the joystick — generating unique, organic modulation curves directly during performance.
Sequencer with morphing, chord generator and studio integration
The per-voice sequencer supports polyphonic chaining and step division into up to 8 sub-steps, enabling precise microtiming rhythmic structures without an external sequencer. Built-in pattern morphing algorithms allow smooth transitions between sequencer states. Onboard tools include a chord generator, scale selection, and a full modulation engine. The display confirms delay and reverb among the available built-in effects. Connectivity targets studio integration: individual voice outputs, stereo out, MIDI, USB, and headphone monitoring. The Superbooth 2026 presentation also confirmed a ribbon controller, a fully featured arpeggiator, vibrato and tremolo with programmable waveforms, and the chord and scale modes carried over from TwistFM.
