The 017 TUBE is a tube-powered, large-diaphragm condenser microphone built around an interchangeable S17 capsule based on the Neumann K67 design - a dual-backplate 34mm head with a gold-sputtered diaphragm. At the core of the circuit sits a military-grade 6ZH1P pentode and a proprietary toroidal transformer hand-wound at the Soyuz factory, with all wiring done point-to-point rather than on a PCB.

Tube color without losing control on loud sources

Classic tube microphones are prized for their color, but often struggle on louder sources - tube overload at high SPL can be unpredictable and hard to manage mid-session. The 017 TUBE addresses this with a dedicated BP-017 power supply that has a built-in -20dB pad, connected via a 6-pin cable, letting an engineer trim level before it ever reaches the preamp. A 120dB maximum SPL rating and 20dB(A) self-noise give plenty of headroom for vocals, strings, and orchestral sources without a sudden overload.

One body, multiple applications through swappable capsules

A fixed cardioid pattern limits technique choice, especially on ensemble or orchestral sessions that may call for an omnidirectional pickup. The S17 capsule on the 017 TUBE is swappable, so the same body and electronics run additional heads - omnidirectional now, with figure-8 planned - without buying a separate microphone for every session. That trims the gear list needed for a mobile recording rig.
