Sonicware ELZ_1 Play is a compact and powerful digital synthesizer and workstation that combines 17 unique synthesis engines, a four-track stereo looper, built-in effects, and a 37-key velocity-sensitive keyboard. Designed for both portable performance and in-depth sound design, it’s a versatile instrument ideal for creating everything from lush ambient textures to rhythmically driven beats and songs.

The ELZ_1 Play builds on the legacy of the original ELZ_1 by expanding its sound engine library without sacrificing the original’s charm. Among the 17 engines are lo-fi 8-bit waveforms, virtual analog, filtered noise, FM synthesis, granular synthesis, physical modeling, a detuned super oscillator, a drum machine, and more. Multiple envelope types and nine filter modes give you precise control over sound shaping, while 33 effects provide both insert and master processing options.

Its performance interface includes a 128-step sequencer, multimode arpeggiator, and a four-track looper that supports overdubbing, quantized recording, undo/redo, and one-shot playback. Thanks to MIDI and USB I/O, sync ports, stereo input/output, and USB audio interface functionality, the ELZ_1 Play integrates smoothly into both DAW-based and standalone setups. With SD card support and battery or power supply operation, it’s a go-anywhere musical companion.
