Even the smaller SSL USB audio interface models have been very popular, so Solid State Logic hereby presents a larger variant -
the SSL 12 - with 12 inputs and eight outputs. Four of the channels contain first-class microphone preamplifiers with a gain range of 62dB , while the legendary ''4K'' switches are available per channel to give the audio signals that certain something by colouring the sound. The model here is the legendary SSL 4000 series.
In addition, there is an 8-channel ADAT input at the rear , MIDI connectors and two independently adjustable headphone outputs , which can also be used as line outputs
.It works in formats up to 32-bit and 192kHz , so audiophile users will also get their money's worth, or sound engineers/sound designers will benefit from the flexibility in post-production or mixing. Signals can be monitored through two pairs of headphones or two pairs of speakers, and five-digit level meters per channel provide levelling information.
Overall, the USB-C audio interface with all its Neutrik sockets and Alps controls has a high-quality finish and fits well in any studio environment with its unique but simple design. The built-in talkback microphone , as well as the three freely assignable switches - which initially function by default as CUT , ALT and TIM - are a great addition to an already exuberant audio interface. However, SSL adds a comprehensive software package worth around €1,000 as icing on the cake so that you as an audio engineer , producer , sound designer or hobbyist musician can start recording straight away. On board is SSL Vocalstrip 2 and Drumstrip, IK Multimedia Amplitube 5 SE, Celemony Melodyne Essential, Native Instruments Hybrid Keys &, Komplete Start, Ableton Live 11 Lite and much more!
