The TLM 193 uses Neumann’s advanced K 89 capsule, the same one found in the renowned TLM 170 R. This modern edge-terminated capsule design combines the clarity and transient precision of small-diaphragm microphones with the smoothness and sensitivity of large-diaphragm types. Its cardioid polar pattern remains consistent across all frequencies, ensuring accurate imaging and minimal coloration even off-axis.

With Neumann’s transformerless TLM circuitry, the microphone achieves an impressive dynamic range of 130 dB, extremely low self-noise of just 10 dB-A, and the ability to handle up to 140 dB SPL without distortion.
