The card occupies the single EdgeBus slot present on every 3d-based unit and consolidates a full 8 channels of AES onto one multi-pin connector instead of four separate XLR pairs, cutting straight down to rack tidiness and connection speed when working with DB-25 snakes.
Eight AES Channels Without Four Pairs of XLR in the Rack
Standard AES/EBU wiring needs a dedicated XLR pair for every stereo link, so a full 8 channels means four cable pairs and a matching number of jacks on the rear panel. The DB-25 AES card closes the same connection into one connector, using the same DB-25 snake standard already common on line-level runs — patching a rack with multiple units becomes faster, and the risk of mis-wiring individual channel pairs is effectively eliminated.Integration With Studio-Grade Consoles and Digital Processors
