LEWITT LCT 40 SHxx — a shockmount for large studio microphones, compatible with 3/8" and 5/8" threads, built for the flagship LCT 840 and LCT 940 series.

This accessory is aimed at engineers who own large, multi-element tube/FET microphones, where the microphone's mass and the weight of its mounting hardware call for a sturdier suspension than standard, lighter models in the LCT Recording line need. The larger, reinforced body of the LCT 40 SHxx was specifically engineered around the geometry and weight of the LCT 840 and LCT 940.

Eliminating Vibration on a Heavier, Flagship Microphone

With large tube/FET microphones, heavier than typical condenser models, a standard lightweight shockmount may not damp stand-transmitted vibration well enough, resulting in low-frequency noise reaching the capsule during a session. The LCT 40 SHxx solves this with a build sized for the weight and dimensions of the LCT 840 and LCT 940, mechanically isolating the microphone from the stand body and damping vibration before it reaches the delicate diaphragm, allowing a clean signal even on a hard floor.

Fast Mounting of a Large Microphone Without Losing Stability

With heavier microphones, conventional shockmounts with rubber rings need finer tension adjustment to hold a stable position without tilting under the weight of the body and its built-in pattern-switching mechanism. The threaded quick-release closure on the LCT 40 SHxx lets the microphone go in and out with one motion, even with the added mass of the LCT 840/940, and compatibility with both 3/8" and 5/8" threads removes the need for an adapter on a standard studio stand.
