Intech Studio Grid Series 3 EF44 Detent is a third-generation modular USB MIDI controller from the Grid line, combining four 60 mm audio-grade linear faders with four metal endless encoders featuring 20 detents per revolution. The GRID3-EF44-D variant uses stepped encoders – as opposed to the Smooth version – delivering precise positioning when dialling in discrete parameter steps.

60 mm Faders and Detent Encoders – Two Control Types in One Module

The 60 mm linear faders are audio-grade: the longer throw provides greater physical resolution when adjusting levels, sends, crossfades, or modulation sweeps. That is twice the fader travel of the PBF4 modules, resulting in more accurate and natural wrist movements. The four metal encoders with 20 clicks per full rotation let you count steps without looking at a screen – useful for setting discrete MIDI CC values, cycling through programs, or stepping through banks. Each encoder is surrounded by a customisable multicolor LED ring: assign colours, set brightness, or enable pulsing animations directly in Grid Editor.

Modularity and Stage Use – Magnetic Connectors, Fibreglass Panel

The textured fibreglass front panel improves durability and grip during live use. Magnetic side connectors with gold-plated pins allow expansion up to eight Grid modules powered and managed over a single USB-C cable. The EF44 supports MIDI CC mapping and integrates directly with any DAW or MIDI hardware – no drivers required. A side utility button handles fast page switching between assignment sets.
