Grace Design m108 DigiLink Option is an option module (A108DL) installed in the m108 slot, adding DigiLink connectivity to the Grace Design m108 eight-channel preamp with A/D conversion. The card integrates the m108 directly with Avid Pro Tools|HD Accel, HDX and HD Native systems, emulating the HD I/O interface and bringing the transparent, transformerless preamp path straight into the Pro Tools environment without additional converters or cabling.
Direct integration with Pro Tools HD
An engineer working on a Pro Tools|HD rig normally has to pass the signal from an external preamp through a separate Avid interface, adding a conversion stage and complicating the routing. The A108DL module eliminates that step: the m108 is seen by the system as an HD I/O interface and delivers eight channels of A/D conversion directly into the Pro Tools session. Sample rate is controlled from within Pro Tools, simplifying clock management and synchronisation in complex multi-interface configurations.
Cascading two m108 units into one HD I/O interface
A session requiring a full HD input and output configuration needs more than eight channels. The A108DL module has two Mini-DigiLink connectors — Primary Port and Expansion Port — working identically to those on an Avid HD I/O interface. Two m108 units with the A108DL card installed can be linked into one HD I/O, emulating the standard configuration of an ADC card, DAC card and Digital I/O card. In the chain the first m108 must have an odd ID number, and a common word clock synchronises all interfaces. Requires m108 firmware version 1.07 or higher.
