Grace Design m108 is an eight-channel, remote-controlled microphone preamp with A/D conversion in a slim 1U chassis. It combines eight channels of transparent, transformerless preamplification in a trans-impedance architecture with state-of-the-art 192 kHz conversion, multiple digital output formats and flexible local or remote control, making it a vital element of a modern production environment.

Transparent multichannel capture

Recording an orchestra, a section or a drum kit demands preamps that reproduce complex waveforms without adding their own character. The transformerless trans-impedance path of the m108 resolves intricate signals with clarity and depth, while no electrolytic capacitors in the path and separate voltage regulators per channel keep the sound consistent across all eight inputs. Integrated A/D conversion with the s-Lock PLL delivers a clean digital signal to the DAW, free of jitter when clocking from word clock or a Dante network.

Flexible control and extensive I/O

In a high-channel-count system an engineer needs remote control and compatibility with existing gear. The m108 is controlled from the panel, via serial or MIDI, from Pro Tools, from a control app handling up to 12 units, and from any browser via the built-in web server. The protocol is backward compatible with the m802, so the m108 can join an existing system. Standard outputs include balanced analog, AES3, ADAT and USB, and the option slot accepts Digilink, Dante or Ravenna cards plus a Control Room Output module that turns the m108 into a monitor controller.
