Empress Effects ZOIA Euroburo Desktop Enclosure

The ZOIA Euroburo Desktop Enclosure is a metal case with an integrated power supply, designed by Empress Effects exclusively for use with the ZOIA Euroburo module. It allows the Euroburo to operate outside a Eurorack system – on a studio desk, in a live setup without a modular rack, or on the road. The enclosure is metal with a finish matched to the Euroburo front panel; users consistently note that the design looks integrated rather than retrofitted. A 9–12 V power supply with a full set of outlet adapters is included. The ZOIA Euroburo module itself is not included – the enclosure is sold separately.

What the desktop enclosure adds – and what it does not

The primary function of the Desktop Enclosure is to hold the Euroburo module in a stable, free-standing position with access to all connectors from the rear and sides, and to power it without connection to a Eurorack bus. The 9–12 V power supply delivers 300 mA, covering the module's full current requirement. The metal enclosure prevents the unit from sliding across a desk when patching and unpatching Eurorack 3.5 mm cables – which at a dense CV patch configuration with multiple inputs would be a real problem with a lighter or plastic construction. The enclosure adds no connectors or ports to the module itself – all Euroburo inputs and outputs (CV, audio, MIDI, headphones) remain accessible exactly as in a rack configuration. The absence of a built-in 5-pin DIN MIDI connector is the only limitation consistently noted by users at this price point.

Applications – when the desktop enclosure makes sense

The Desktop Enclosure solves a specific problem: the Euroburo is a Eurorack module and requires a rack to operate. Users who do not own a modular system, or who want to use the Euroburo independently of one – as an effects processor in a recording studio alongside a console, as a standalone unit on stage without Eurorack, or as a portable tool for remote work – the desktop enclosure is the only official Empress solution for that scenario. The power supply with outlet adapters covers different markets without additional accessories. The enclosure format and weight make the unit transportable in a gear bag without rack protection.
