Avalon Design VP-1 - a passive 1U, 19 inch vent and spacer panel built for thermal management in densely populated studio racks.

Tube gear like the VT-737SP or VT-747SP generates real heat and needs warm-up time before it reaches full spec. In a rack packed edge to edge, heat from one unit can bleed into neighboring gear, especially when there's no gap between them for airflow. The VP-1 is a simple, unpowered mechanical part that solves this without extra wiring or fans.

Venting Heat in a Densely Packed Rack

Placed between heat-generating units, the vent panel opens a gap that lets air move more freely inside the rack enclosure. This matters especially when stacking several tube units on top of each other, where accumulated heat from the chassis can shorten the life of tubes and electronic components in gear sitting close to a hot signal path.

Filling Unused Rack Space

In racks that aren't fully populated, the VP-1 closes off an open 1U slot in a way that's both tidy and functional, instead of leaving a gap that lets dust into the enclosure. Using a standard 19 inch panel also keeps the look of a rack built from several Avalon units consistent, without adding mounting hardware outside rack spec.
