With

the

Hydrasynth Explorer ,ASM (Ashun Sound Machines) presents an eight-voice digital keyboard synthesiser with Wave Morphing synthesis. The huge variety of functions combined with first-class sound is testament to the many years of experience of the development team. The specially developed 'Polytouch Keybed' is a speed-sensitive 37 mini-keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch. The main section and module selection have been taken over 1:1 from the large models, all other sections have been shrunk down to a compact size so that on the Explorer you only need to do a little work with the menus to get the desired result. If you want to swap sounds between one of the large models and Explorer, they are fully compatible with each other.

With

the

chord function and the very extensively programmable arpeggiator , you have two very powerful creative tools at your fingertips to realise your ideas both on stage and in the studio. From the factory, the Hydrasynth Explorer is equipped with two preset banks of 128 presets each - a total of five banks are available with a total capacity of 640 presets. A minor highlight is the five analogue outputs for CV, Gate, Clock and two definable controllers, making this synthesiser the control centre of a connected modular system!

Creating a soundThe three

full-featured oscillators draw their base material from 219 waveforms. Oscillator 1 and 2 are furthermore capable of waveform scanning, where up to eight waveforms can be transformed accordingly. With the help of four 'mutants', the oscillators can be further shaped - in addition to FM, three different types of pulse width modulation (PWM), Hard-Sync and Harmonic-Sweep, there is also Wavestack. With the latter, assertive unison/supersaw sounds can be created using just one oscillator.

Filter

With two different filters that can be used in parallel or in series, nothing stands in the way of detailed sound shaping on the Hydrasynth. The first filter includes eleven different filter models (including 12/24 dB lowpass, highpass, vocals). The second filter is a state variable filter with a 12 dB slope and is continuously variable from Lowpass through Bandpass to Highpass (similar to the SEM filter).

Effects

The final link in the signal chain are the four effects blocks that put the final touch on the sound. The first and last effects block contain the same choice of Chorus, Flanger, Rotary, Phaser, Lo-Fi, Tremolo, EQ, and Compressor (with sidechain). In between, Delay and Reverb can be activated (five and six variants respectively).

Modulation and controllerWhat

would such a set of oscillators and filters be without modulation! Five looped DAHDSR envelopes and five synchronised LFOs with several waveforms and trigger modes, including a sixth vibrato LFO provide plenty of movement in the sound. In addition to several fixed modulation connections, almost every parameter in the Hydrasynth Explorer can be modulated via the modulation matrix, which consists of 32 slots.
