It features a CK12-style capsule, NOS GE 6072A tube, and a custom Hiller T14/1 transformer, all built to exacting vintage specifications. The CM12 S delivers a refined, open top end, smooth mids, and warm, controlled lows, making it ideal for vocals, acoustic instruments, and orchestral recording.
The hand-brazed, nickel-plated grille and brass body ensure maximum structural integrity while reducing resonances and standing waves. Its 1-inch dual backplate capsule with a 6-micron Mylar diaphragm provides outstanding transient response and characteristic high-frequency air. The internal electronics use premium passive components, including the Suprema Silver Gold Oil capacitor, known for exceptional musicality and micro-detail reproduction.
The updated power supply supports global voltages and uses precision multi-turn trim pots for fine-tuning plate and heater voltages. The microphone offers nine selectable polar patterns, from omni to cardioid and figure-eight, switchable via a high-grade Grayhill rotary control.
