UDO Audio has announced at Superbooth 2025 the long-awaited voice expansion for its flagship synthesizer, the Super 8. The new hardware upgrade kit increases the voice count from 16 to an impressive 20 – matching the Super Gemini!
20 voices – now also in the Super 8
The new UDO Audio Super 8 Voice Upgrade Kit raises the polyphony to 20 voices, or 10 in binaural mode. Most importantly, installation requires no soldering – just plug it in and go. UDO guarantees full plug & play compatibility right out of the box.
Firmware 1.32 – required for voice expansion
To ensure the Super 8 recognizes the new board, firmware must be updated to version 1.32. This update also applies to the Super Gemini (which already has 20 voices built-in, so no expansion board is needed). In addition to supporting the voice upgrade, the firmware includes the following improvements:
- Reduced latency between MIDI Clock and audio
- More consistent panning behavior in Dual mode
- Improved overall system stability and responsiveness
Availability and price
The UDO Super 8 Voice Upgrade Kit is now available for pre-order at a price of €191.95 / £160 / $217. Shipping is scheduled for June 2025. The firmware update is available for download on UDO Audio’s official website.
