genelec-8320apm-monitor-sam-8320a-dark-grey
Genelec 8320APM Dark Grey 4 inch SAM Active Studio Monitor

Genelec 8320APM is the 8320A in Dark Grey: a compact active nearfield monitor from the Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) family. A 105 mm woofer and a 19 mm metal dome tweeter, driven by two 50 W Class D amplifiers, cover 66 Hz to 20 kHz within 1.5 dB. It is fully integrated with GLM software, which fits the monitor to your room.

Small room, predictable low end

In a small control room or home studio the weak link is rarely the speaker. It is the room: desk reflections, a wall right behind the monitors and boomy modes. Connected to a GLM network with the GLM Calibration Kit (sold separately), the 8320A measures the room with AutoCal 2 and sets the correction, levels and delays for each monitor. Instead of guessing whether the bass lives in the mix or in the room, you work on a measured, corrected response. Settings are stored in the monitor, so it stays calibrated even when the computer is off.

A precise stereo image on the desk

The DCW waveguide controls high-frequency dispersion, keeping the stereo image stable and reducing desk reflections. The rounded die-cast aluminium MDE enclosure cuts edge diffraction, and the Iso-Pod stand decouples the monitor from the surface while letting you tilt it towards your ears. Self-generated noise of 5 dB SPL or less means silence between takes, and ISS puts the monitor into standby automatically when there is no signal. Combine the 8320A with a subwoofer and other SAM monitors and you manage the whole system from one place. You can audition Genelec monitors in our Warsaw showroom.

KEY FEATURES

Two-way active nearfield monitor with SAM technology

GLM room calibration with AutoCal 2 (GLM Calibration Kit sold separately)

Two 50 W Class D amplifiers

DCW waveguide for a stable stereo image

Die-cast aluminium MDE enclosure with reflex port

Decoupling Iso-Pod stand with tilt adjustment

ISS automatic standby

Driver protection circuitry

Versatile mounting options

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Frequency response: 66 Hz - 20 kHz (±1.5 dB), 55 Hz - 23 kHz (-6 dB)

Short-term max SPL: 100 dB or more

Peak SPL: 107 dB or more (per pair, 1 m, music material)

Long-term max SPL: 94 dB or more

Self-generated noise: 5 dB SPL or less (A-weighted, 1 m)

Harmonic distortion: 3% or less (50-200 Hz), 0.5% or less (above 200 Hz)

Drivers: 105 mm woofer, 19 mm metal dome tweeter

Amplifiers: 50 W bass + 50 W treble, Class D

Input: analog XLR, balanced, 10 kOhm

Control: 2 x RJ45 (GLM network)

Power: 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz; ISS up to 0.5 W, idle up to 3 W, full output 50 W

Dimensions: 242 x 151 x 142 mm (H x W x D, with Iso-Pod)

Weight: 3.2 kg

Finish: Dark Grey

In the box: monitor, 1.8 m mains cable, 5 m RJ45 cable, operating manual

Warranty: 2 years, plus 3 years when registered on MyGenelec
