waldorf-crema
Waldorf Crema

Waldorf Crema is a compact polyphonic desktop synthesizer for pads, strings and textures that takes the sound of the classic Waldorf Streichfett further. It combines two layers, Texture with Strings, Wavetable and FM synthesis, and the virtual analog Lines layer, all running into an effects section with shimmer reverb. You can try Crema in our Warsaw showroom.

Pads that sit in the mix from the first note

A wide bed under a vocal or a string part usually means several plugins, a chorus and a separate reverb. In Crema the Texture layer offers 24 sound variations across three synthesis modes, and every one of them passes through the Streichfett Ensemble effect. Strings mode runs with full polyphony, Wavetable uses classic and new Waldorf wavetables with a virtual analog filter and three ADSR envelopes, and FM gives you six algorithms on four operators with feedback. The Animate function moves the wavetable position or the FM amount, so sustained sounds keep evolving without riding the knobs. Two effect slots, in series or parallel, cover chorus, phaser, flanger, Drive, tremolo, delay and reverb with shimmer.

Two layers from one controller

Lines is an 8-voice virtual analog synth based on the Streichfett Solo section, with two detunable oscillators, PWM and mono and legato modes. Play both layers together or split them by key range or MIDI channel, holding a pad with the left hand while the right plays a line. The arpeggiator can drive Texture, Lines or both, the step sequencer runs up to 32 steps with a scale mode, and MPE support lets you play expressively from a suitable controller. Power and MIDI share one USB-C cable, which makes Crema easy to drop into a small setup next to a laptop.

KEY FEATURES

Two sound layers, Texture and Lines, played stacked or split

Streichfett Strings engine with full polyphony

Wavetable synthesis with virtual analog filter and three ADSR envelopes

FM: 6 algorithms, 4 operators with feedback

Streichfett Ensemble effect on all Texture modes

Two effect slots including reverb with shimmer

Arpeggiator, step sequencer up to 32 steps, MPE support

MIDI CC Learn, preset import and export via SysEx

Free Waldorf Chutney sound librarian for macOS and Windows

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Type: polyphonic desktop synthesizer, two layers

Texture: Strings, Wavetable and FM modes, 24 variations

Polyphony: Texture full in Strings mode, 12 voices in Wavetable and FM; Lines 8 voices

Effects: FX1 chorus, phaser, flanger, Drive, tremolo, delay; FX2 reverb with shimmer

Presets: over 130 factory, 360 memory slots

Audio output: stereo, 6.35 mm jacks L/Stereo and R/Mono

Headphone output: 3.5 mm TRS

MIDI: In and Out on 3.5 mm TRS Type A

USB-C: power, MIDI, firmware updates

Dimensions: 252 x 170 x 48 mm

Weight: 0.9 kg

Power: USB bus powered, power supply not included

Included: two TRS to DIN MIDI adapters, USB-C to USB-C cable, printed quick start guide
