It has full MIDI input and output on 2.5 mm TRS jacks, a headphone output, a pedal input and USB power. See MIDI controllers in our Warsaw showroom.

A keyboard that works with a phone and without a computer

A small controller for a phone often has only a USB output. The iRig Keys 2 also has MIDI input and output on 2.5 mm TRS jacks (an adapter to a female 5-pin MIDI is included), so it drives external gear or receives MIDI with no computer. One micro-USB socket connects it to the device, and the box holds Lightning, USB-A and USB-C cables, all 60 cm.

Controls on board

The mini keys are velocity-sensitive, and next to them sit a volume knob, octave and program buttons, a Setup button, one assignable encoder and eight assignable knobs in two groups of four. A pitch bend wheel, a modulation wheel and a 6.3 mm TRS pedal input are on this version. USB power draws very little current, but some battery packs switch off at such a light load, so for stand-alone use pick one that stays on by itself.

KEY FEATURES

37 velocity-sensitive mini keys

MIDI input and output on 2.5 mm TRS, adapter to 5-pin MIDI included

3.5 mm headphone output and a 6.3 mm TRS pedal input

Pitch bend and modulation wheels, an encoder and 8 assignable knobs

USB power (computer, mobile device, USB supply or battery pack)

iPhone, iPad, Android 5+, Mac, Windows, Lightning, USB-A and USB-C cables included

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Keyboard: 37 velocity-sensitive mini keys

Connections: micro-USB device connector, MIDI Input and Output 2.5 mm TRS, headphone output 1/8 in TRS, pedal input 1/4 in TRS

Controls: volume knob, octave up/down, program up/down, Setup, 1 encoder, 4+4 knobs, pitch bend wheel, modulation wheel

Conversion: 16 or 24-bit D/A, 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz

Power: USB bus power

Dimensions: 518 x 139 x 54 mm / 20.4 x 5.5 x 2.13 in

Weight: 0.87 kg / 30.7 oz

Compatibility: iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Android 5 or later with USB audio (Micro-USB OTG cable sold separately), macOS 10.6 or later, Windows (iRig driver for low latency)

Package: iRig Keys 2, Lightning to micro-USB cable 60 cm, USB-A to micro-USB cable 60 cm, USB-C to micro-USB cable 60 cm, 2.5 mm TRS to female MIDI adapter 10 cm
